SUZANNE PETRELLA
for KENDALL COUNTY BOARD DISTRICT 1
General Election November 4, 2008
"Identifying problems is easy. I'll tackle the hard work of solving them...
and staying positive as I do."
Witnessing growth in Kendall County over the past decade and watching my youngest child graduate
from high school, I am convinced now is the time to pursue my interest in public service within
my community. My past experiences have shown me how people working together can deal effectively
with all types of problems. Our growth challenges from schools to roads to erosion of natural
areas to increased tax burdens-can be solved if we continue to respect our long-term residents,
while assisting new residents to merge successfully.
Principles
- I believe tax increases should be requested only when all other solutions have been exhausted
and when quality of life for people will improve to justify that extra expense.
- Local government should assist peoples' lives, not complicate them with extra paperwork, time
or expense.
- Residential and commercial growth should be balanced, encompassing small businesses and farms, as
well as larger retail that are consistent with the needs of the community.
- We must protect our natural areas and approach growth with common sense and responsibility.
- I believe good school systems create good citizens and good communities, as well as increasing
the value of property.
- Families should be encouraged to develop and practice solid values within a governmental
structure that supports their essential needs.

I am a determined person who works tirelessly at problem solving. It is easy to identify the problems, but the real work comes in finding
practical solutions in a positive manner. I intend to work with Board members, County staff,
and local citizens to do exactly that.
